Can’t find the font you’re looking for to complete a fantastic project or gift? One of my favourite places to get new fonts is Font Bundles. And they often give away free fonts – AMAZING!

Now you’ve found that perfect font, but you don’t know how to get it into Design Space. Well, that’s what I am here for – to help you navigate this. The first thing to note is that I am working on a desktop PC, not a tablet or Mac product, so I can’t advise how it would work on them.

Download that font to your computer. Make sure you read the licensing agreement and comply with this depending on your use of the font. This is often in the download file as well to refer back to.

Once complete, go to your downloads, find the file – it will usually be a Zip file, right-click on it, and select extract all. You will need to select where to save these to. Open your folder with your new font file. You will see there are two types of font, open type and true type. We’ll be working with the open type as this is more modern and compatible.

You will also need to open the font settings in the system settings. I find this by searching font in my search bar next to my start menu. Once you have this open, click on the open type font file and drag it into font settings window where it says drag and drop fonts. It will then load onto your system.

Now you can open Design Space and go to your project to use your new font. Create the text box like normal, but when you want to select your font, you can either search by its name, or choose system fonts, and this will look at the fonts on your computer.

I hope that helps, if you get stuck or have questions, pop them in the comments below and I will do my best to help.
